Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why are ThermoBuilt Kit Homes so inexpensive?
A. ThermoBuilt keeps things SIMPLE by offering pre-designed, user-friendly ThermoBuilt Home house plans as seen on our website.  All ThermoBuilt operations and functions are in place and in use for their quality, savings, and efficiency.

Q. What makes ThermoBuilt Kit homes so “User/Builder Friendly?”
A. All ThermoBuilt pieces are uniform and light-weight. There is minimal cutting of materials needed at the home site.  As well, no large or heavy equipment or machinery is needed to erect your ThermoBuilt Home Shell, which literally saves valuable time and money on the job site.

Q:  Can ThermoBuilt build/put up my ThermoBuilt Insulating Energy-Efficient Shell for me?
A:  Absolutely, that's our business.

Q. Are ThermoBuilt Kit Homes code approved in my state?
A. Yes.  ThermoBuilt R-30 Wall and R-50 Roof Systems are a construction variation of conventional 2x4 framing methods.  2x6 frame construction is approved throughout the United States.  ThermoBuilt homes are built to Florida Hurricane/Building Codes.  Variations may be required in a few localities.  Inquiries should be made to local building departments.

Q. What gives ThermoBuilt Kit Homes their superior insulation performance?
A. ThermoBuilt uses rigid EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) which is superior to fiberglass and concrete block insulation. ThermoBuilt walls are R-37 and the ThermoBuilt Roof System is a genuine R-50.  Compare ThermoBuilt's R-Factors to normal 2x4 construction which provides only R-13 walls & R-24 ceilings.  The ThermoBuilt Wall and Roof Systems literally keep your home cool when you want it cool, keep it warm when you want it warm, by keeping your heating and cooling within a super-insulated structure.  By keeping your heating/cooling within the home, you save money---daily, weekly, monthly, for the life of your home---on utility costs, instead of having your heating/cooling escape through your walls, windows, and doors.

Q. Is EPS insulation approved and safe?
A. Yes.  EPS (expanded polystyrene) has been used throughout the construction industry for many, many years by discriminating home owners and commercial builders.  It is flame-retardant, termite/pest resistant, and mold/mildew resistant.

Q. Are ThermoBuilt Homes strong?
A. Yes!  ThermoBuilt Homes are stronger than normal frame construction because of the thick rigid insulating panels and beams locked-in between the 2x6 studs and rafters.  This unifies the structure into one piece.

Q. I own my land. How do I get started?
A. Visit your local Building Department and tell them what you plan to do.  Find out if there are things you need to be concerned about before you start.  They’re on your side.  Then follow their instructions on permitting and get your slab or foundation ready to receive your new ThermoBuilt Home.
